I was so happy to learn the First Watch is the same “Daytime Cafe” that I remembered from Florida. Of course, over the years, and it’s been that long since I stepped foot into a First Watch, the menu has undergone a dramatic makeover.
As we walked in, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It was amazing! Then I noticed the clean, openness of this location. I loved the atmosphere! There is some great “farm” artwork and signs on the walls. If there were not so many exterior windows, you may think you’re on a farm, eating at a table in the farmhouse.
I loved the paper menus, though they were a little large! From the Fresh Juice Bar menu, I was intrigued by the Kale Tonic (Kale, Fuji Apple, English cucumber and lemon). When it arrived, I had a feeling it would be good by the color and smoothness of the drink itself. It wasn’t cloudy which means that the ingredients were fresh.
I also ordered coffee, which arrived in an individual carafe. You are also brought a carafe of cold water. I love this concept! The coffee is delicious!
I ordered The biscuits & gravy, a half order of bacon (2 pieces) and fresh seasoned potatoes). I have to say, when my breakfast arrived, I wasn’t sure about the biscuits and gravy. The gravy had an off color but, upon the first bite, I was pleased. The truth is, if it’s not fresh-made, you get that floury texture and base. Since this is fresh-made, it is what it is. Fresh! I would definitely order it again. The bacon was super crisp and delicious! Perfect and not the least bit greasy! Okay, so, the potatoes… perfectly cooked and seasoned. Very good!
Also pictures is my husband’s meal (“The Tradirional Breakfast”) which he also enjoyed.
I love the concept of this restaurant. The only negative is that they are only open from 7:00 a.m. To 2:30 p.m. (Hence their slogan, “the daytime cafe”!)
Great wait staff and service! A must visit!
